Rethinking Normal

Luke Hill knew something was wrong with him in society's eyes. He felt like a girl trapped in the body of a boy. He was chronically depressed from ages eight to fifteen. At fifteen, he realized he was transgender. He realized there was a way to become Katie. There was a way for her to become who she was born to be.

As a small child, she had demonstrated girl-like behaviors, asked for an Easy-Bake oven, liked boys but wanted them to like her back as a girl. Growing older, she had attempted suicide and dropped out of high school. This narrative is written when she is in college, the first place where her peers don't know her past, where she feels she can be judged by who she is, not who others want her to be.
